LUSES International Joint Laboratory .

From 01/01/2013 to 01/12/2025

The LUSES International Joint Laboratory (LMI in French for Laboratoire Mixte International) is an international Joint Research and Training initiative promoted by IRD, involving research and higher education institutions from Southeast Asian countries and France.

LUSES IJL/LMI is an operating research organization whose objective is to jointly design and conduct research and training programs around well-defined and mutually agreed scientific goals, through the sharing of facilities, equipment and skills. LUSES will have a regional scale and international influence and will promote the hosting of scientific partners.

Research programs undertaken within LUSES will concern scientific questions linked to the South-East Asian regional agricultural context (high rates of agrarian transition). The research will be of international research standard to ensure that results will be published in peer reviewed journals and procedures will comply as much as possible with international quality standards; the scientific and practical outputs will also benefit the institutions of the respective countries participating in the LMI.

Each participant institution, individually or in partnership with another participant, will seek funding to cover the cost of equipment, operations and staff, etc. IRD will provide a specific annual budget during the length of the project to cover the expenses linked to the reinforcement of local building research capacities (student laboratory fees, training courses, LUSES meeting, etc.)
