Workshop for apple farmers Kutná Hora, Czech Republic.


Danone organises every year training sessions for apple farmers in the main production regions (France & Czech Republic). The topics of lectures are agreed with farmers in advance to tackle most important issues for farmers and/or Danone, specially to prepare for dissemination of  Apple experiments results in workpackage 1 of the Friendly Fruit project. Sharing good practices between farmers is important part of the day.

In 2019 focus was on the impact of above ground biodiversity on soil health and biodiversity enhancement.

15 farmers / technicians from Danone apple supply chain in Czech Republic & Poland participated in this event.

A visit of eco friendly orchard was organised:

  • observation of the biodiversity (flowering mix in the row) and its positive impact on soil moisture
  • observation & identification of beneficial insects in the orchards
