Socrates Apple Academy in France.


Regular training sessions for farmers are key to accelerate adoption of more sustainable farming practices, and implementation of the findings of agricultural research on commercial fields.

The topics of lectures are agreed with farmers in advance to tackle most important issues for farmers and/or Danone, specially to prepare for dissemination of Apple experiments results (workpackage 1 of Friendly Fruit).

Objective

  • Focus on innovative grey aphid management and low-input orchard concept

Participants

  • 25 Agronomists/farmers from Danone supply chain of apples in France
  • Staff from Danone  (Buyers, Supplier Quality, sustainability project leaders) & 3 experts from ‘La Pugere” and UCL Louvain

Format

  • Lectures and visit of low input orchards of La Pugere (sharing the practices & outcomes linked with such type of production
