Agricultural value chains for Climate Action.

Agrisource is a flagship project of the Climate-KIC’s Climate-Smart Agriculture Booster. The CSA Booster is Europe’s leading knowledge and innovation hub pioneering the transition to climate-smart agriculture across Europe, and around the world. It harnesses digital and technological advances, new techniques and business models, and global supply and finance. Its international network of partners is accelerating the adoption and scaling of low-carbon (“climate-smart”) technologies and solutions across Europe’s agri-food sector to boost the productivity and resilience of European agriculture and food systems, cut greenhouse gas emissions and drive global sustainable development.

Within the CSA Booster, climate change issues are tackled in the frame of value chains.

The idea of the value chain is based on the process view of organizations, the idea of seeing a manufacturing (or service) organization as a system, made up of subsystems each with inputs, transformation processes and outputs. Inputs, transformation processes, and outputs involve the acquisition and consumption of resources – money, labour, materials, equipment, buildings, land, administration and management. Based on this approach, CSA Booster partners intend to bring together all agricultural organisations in their respective value chains, in order to define and carry out a concerted strategy regarding climate change.

On Agrisource, we want to offer transparent and collaborative areas for these initiatives to be seen, developed, and maybe replicated.

The CSA Booster programme currently focuses on 3 Value Chains :

Positive results of this approach should encourage its enlargement to other food and agriculture value chains in the near future.
