ICOWPEA project.

The specific objective of the ICOWPEA project is to develop cowpea products of nutritional interest and appreciated by consumers. The project is inspired by traditional practices and aims to revitalize the sector economically while contributing to its sustainability.

General objectives

• Valuing cowpea seed to reinvigorate its processing and consumption in urban areas.

• Put in place a participatory action-research approach via an innovation platform, involving both local actors in the sector and researchers, for the emergence of sustainable innovations.

• Contribute to food security in the urban context by developing products with high nutritional and organoleptic value.

The ICOWPEA project aims to generate the co-construction of product-process innovations in a research-action approach and through the establishment of a multi-stakeholder innovation platform.
