The SCARF (Soil CARbon Farming) network .

The SCARF network is an expanding network of European carbon storage initiatives. It aims to bring together different types of agricultural carbon storage actors and to bring together different types of models and practices. This network is coordinated by the INRAE within the framework of the project Soil Carbon Farming Funded by the EIT Climate-KIC. In this project, we have a problem solving approach and we consider three dimensions:

  • the solutions
  • the Monitoring Reporting Verification(MRV) certification
  • the scaling mechanism.

Within the framework of the SCARF network, we are currently envisaging the following actions:

  • Knowledge sharing: During several webinars to be held in 2021, we intend to work on different types of carbon storage practices (plant cover, peat, ...), on the sharing of expertise on methodologies and labels, on different aspects of MRV and on the scaling of projects and practices.
  • The development of synergies between the network

At present, the SCARF network includes 15 initiatives, which are:

  1. Svensk Kolinlagring (Sweden)
  2. Farm Frites: a green circle case (Netherlands)
  3. Carbon Think (France, Grand Est)
  4. Soil Capital (France and Belgium)
  5. France Carbon Agri Association (France)
  6. Carbon Action (Finland)
  7. Green Fields and Strong Roots (Denmark)
  8. MoorFutures (Germany)
  9. Farrington Oil (England)
  10. LIFE AgroClimaWater (Greece and Italy)
  11. SatAgro (Europe)
  12. Uptoearth (Europe)
  13. Ökoregion Kaindorf (Germany)
  14. First Climate (Germany and Switzerland)
  15. European Carbon Farmers (Poland)
